heat the house.) Selections from ‘Reliques of Ancient Poetry ‘ Edward
Walford- Chandos 1880 and from Bell’s English Poets. A collection of old
heroic ballads, songs, etc. Note: The earliest ballads are
written in ‘Olde’ English and in early dialect. Where possible I have added
notes to explain either the source or the meaning of obscure names or words
of that era to assist the reader. Edited and abridged with new annotations
